Go Ahead & Ask.

Today is a good day.
I am done.
How weird, crazy & surreal is that?
I feel like I should be more:
& smarter.
I don't know how I thought I was supposed to feel.
But, this isn't quite it.
I'm not complaining though.
I feel free.
& happy of course.
I am packing up my room.
My feelings are a dip of elatedness
& another dip of melancholy.
I love my life here.
Yesterday, Darren & I strapped on the blades & took a loop-de-lou around the sites of Snow College to say good-bye. Here are a few of of the pictures:
we tried to get the marquee in the background.
This picture is for Elder S. Anderson. He lived here last semester.
Snow, at Snow. Typical.
I really am going to miss this place.

A Series of Unfortunate Events.

Oh A8.
The more I get to know you,
the more I realize how much I won't miss you.
Two days. That's all.
Contrary to what you might think,
I really am going to miss Snow College.
I love it here.
I don't love 3 of my roommates, however.
Now let's talk about yesterday, shall we?
(I will give you the condensed version)
1. Kelsey received a decorative plate for her birthday, & Ana put a cake on it
& without asking just gave it away.
2. "Someone" did their laundry during my allotted time.
3. That same someone (Corie) upon being asked claimed "she didn't know who's laundry was in the wash."
4. Later, she went into the hall, & moved the same load of mysterious laundry & simultaneously put another load in.
5. Someone in Bathroom #1 stole our last roll of toilet paper & put it in their bathroom. That roll of TP has a new home. In mine & Kelsey's room. Drip dry has a whole new meaning for 4 girls now...
6. Corie was in her bathroom dying her hair. Upon completion, I watched her walk to the end of the hall grab my last 3 clean towels & dry her newly dyed hair.
Unfortunately, this list has pieces missing. I know you are thinking, "Ashley. Shut up. It's not that bad."  I think the reason I am so annoyed, is my emotions have been building up all year & this is just the icing on the cake of a stolen plate. It has taken all I have to not completely freak out. Patience, you are a hard virtue for me. Sorry for the complaints. Really.
On the flip side, today is my last day at the library! How great/sad is that? Only one more final. Tomorrow at 9 am I will be done with my freshman year of college. How did that happen?

Everyday is a Battlefield.

Everyday, Kelsey & I fight.
Fight about parking positions that is.
Getting the #1 spot is a coveted thing.
It gives you bragging rights.
Probably sounds ridiculous, but we have been doing this all semester.
You can praise me now Kelsey.

T-2 & Counting...

Well team. It's official.
2 tests down.
2 more finals to go.
Can I get a Hip-Hip Hooray for that?
P.S. If this isn't Mexican happiness, I don't know what is.
P.P.S. Do you know what is not Mexican happiness?
Homi seems to have lost his keys.
So he is stranded here.
Serves him right.

Family, isn't it about time?

Thanks to the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints for that message.
I really do love my family so much.
I am being constantly reminded of how lucky I am to have them.
Too bad it took me going to college to fully understand that.
My Dad sent me the sweetest email a few days ago here's a line from it:
"Hang in there, do your best, and this next week will soon be just a fond memory from the past."
My Dad gives the best advice.
How right he is.
My Mom.
She is the best person I know. She is my best friend, biggest supporter, & partner in crime.
She sends me packages, and texts & talks to me daily.
I love him. He is so much smarter than I am. He is going to be the student at PGHS that all the teachers thought I was going to be. He reads this blog everyday & he laughs at my lameo jokes.
Spencer. (aka BIG S)
Love this kid. What a guy. He has talents, (some not appropriate to mention here), but he is a determined little son of a gun and I can't wait to see what the future holds for him.
I love this smiley kid. He is the biggest lover of life I know. His spontaneity & crazy antics keep me laughing.
Rachel. Oh, Princess Rachel.
Oh Rachie. She calls me often to make sure I am doing good & tells me about her first grade drama. She is always so excited when I come home & gives me the biggest hugs. She is the "bestest" sister ever.
I love you guys.
I hope you know that.
I can't wait to come home in a couple of weeks & have some quality time with you!

He Lives.

One of my favorite scriptures is:
D&C 76: 22-24
It's so simple.
He lives.
It is crucial to keep this focus in our lives.
If we do that, we won't falter.
The little things won't matter so much.
Today, Heather & I sang (while Krista played)
I love this hymn & the arrangement is beautiful.
He lives to comfort me when faint.
He lives to wipe away my tears.
He lives to calm my troubled heart.
He lives & grants me daily breath.
He lives & I shall conquer death.
He lives to bring me safely there.
The last time I sang this song was in November at my Grandma's funeral with my Mom. It was bittersweet to sing it again today.
I miss her.
But, He lives. He lives.
That makes everything okay.
I am eternally grateful for that.

The Sweet Bliss of a Saturday.

Isn't bliss a great word?
I certainly think so.
I slept in, & have been studying for finals all day.
It actually has felt quite blissful.
If it wasn't for Intro to Dance
(affectionately referred to as Intro to Hell)
I wouldn't have any projects left.
But, besides that,
all I have left to do it cram, cram, cram for finals.
We ate Mexican food for lunch, & we are all back to our respectful corners studying our brains out so we can play for at least a little while tonight.
Look who I came upon while on my little jog today?
Only my favorite Idaho/Ephraim couple Horie.
(the  celebrity nickname for Homi & Corie)
Aren't they cute?
Too bad you can't see Homi's new classy hairdo.
He has dyed his hair & it now has green tips.
Only one more week with these A8 residents.
How weird is that?
My bliss will be complete one week from today.
Finals will be over, & all my roommates will move out.
And then I will give my proper Hello to Summer.

Fried Friday.

What a day.
I woke up to Snow outside.
Nothing like some powder in April.
Turned in my last English project.
Learned in A Capella today that we will have an additional Choir performance on Monday. Thanks Dr. M. Why not have another concert? While I am at it I will just sell my soul to the devil.
My dear friend Heather forces me to go to Friday Forum at the Institute Building.
Usually I try to weasel out of it & complain that I am starving.
Not today! Heather had packed me a little snack.
Haha. Love her.
Tried to sell some books back to the bookstore.
Of course, all of my teachers will be switching to "newer" editions.
No money from books for me.
Went to Walmart.
Bought some food.
Drove home.
Realized I forgot my wallet in a cart.
Speedily drove back to Walmart.
I groaned when I noticed all the carts had been taken inside.
Luckily, it was still in the cart within the store.
That would have just been the cherry on top of my day.
Needless to say, it's been a long day, & my brain is fried.
On the bright side, my cute mom sent me a package.
I love her.
Thanks Mom!!
If you're bored, come hit up Life Sketches.
I know I will be there.
Not happily, but I will be there.

The Fun Keeps on Trucking

Just in case you are wondering, yes. I am still loving pre-finals life right now.
There are a few people I would like to thank really quick:
1. My Heavenly Father. No way could I do this life alone.
2. The fam-fam. They just keep supporting me. love you.
3. The Meredith's. Thanks for all the stress. The dress rehearsal was so fun last night, I'm sure tonight will be an even better repeat.
4. My friends who call me or come over just to show they care. you guys make me laugh.
5. 3 specific roommates who:
>leave fully cooked (and whole) hotdogs in the sink. yummy yum!
>use all my dishes & silverware. Even though you have your own, feel free to dirty and/or hide mine. Hide and go seek is one of my favorite past times.
>leave my tear ducts dry with all the "homework" they have to do. after listening to your sobs stories yesterday, I had to sit in my car for 5 minutes & cry for your troubles.
6. Fellow Snow collegiates who play the photo stalk game. It just doesn't get old.
Math chapter 6 time is upon us. that sucks.
Happy Thursday.

This week is the final countdown.
It's time to complete all the major projects & study for finals next week.
Do 2 of my professors care or acknowledge that?
Apparently not.
I am talking about Steven & Patricia (more commonly known as Patty) Meredith.
Yes, they are married, & are being held equally accountable for the stress I have.
This husband & wife duo have joined forces to create a production called: Life Sketches.
It premieres this weekend.
Patty is head of dance. Steve is head of the music dept.
So while Acapella sings, dancers will dance.
It will supposedly be awesome.
I am not convinced.
Tonight & tomorrow night we have dress rehearsals from 7-10 pm.
Friday & Saturday will be the performances.
I think it is rude to have such a time consuming thing going on right now.
The amount of time for dress rehearsals seems completely unnecessary.
Patty, don't think I am done with you.
Patty is my Intro to Dance teacher.
She is piling on the homework.
We have to write a 3-4 pg. paper on Life Sketches.
Today we were given 2 new assignments.
We have to do a modern dance research project answering specific questions.
We have to make a dance pedigree chart. (both due Friday.)
I kept waiting for her to say April Fools. But alas, we are the fools for taking this class.
I am so onry about all this.
Among other things I have to do let's list it out, shall we:
1. Find time to study & then take the Math chapter test which is tomorrow. Study for comprehensive final which is Tuesday.
2. Make a powerpoint & complete 10 page paper for Interpersonal Comm. Due tomorrow. Study for final which is on Tuesday.
3. Complete 9 page English argumentative & negotiation paper. Due Friday. Study for final next Wednesday.
4. Upon completion of the other worksheets & papers I have to do, find time to study for Intro to Dance comprehensive final which is next Friday. (The icing on the cake is that it begins at 7 am)
Sorry to rant. I just need to be done. I am so burnt out.
Somebody help?
p.s. Wind, you can stop now.

Happy Birthday Kelsey!

Oh Kelsey Peterson.
What would A8 be without you?
A8 without Kelsey is a frightening concept.
Kelsey's birthday began right at the stroke of midnight.
Mommy Tal came in & gave Kelsey a show she won't soon forget.
And of course we sang her a rousing Happy Birthday Chorus.
As the laughter died down, we all went to sleep.
Kelsey was in for a rude awakening at 7:45.
Natalya did a Waking up in Vegas encore.
It was hilarious.
(I would post the video, but it won't work for some reason.)
Gifts were given as the 3 of us ate cinnamon rolls & Sunny D.
For dinner, The Peterson fam-fam had us over for a barbeque.
It made me so excited for the bbq's that will inevitably transpire at the Palmer household during the summer...
Here are some of the photos from dinner:
(Side note: Kelsey's family were present, they were just sitting at the next table.)
Well Kels, I hope you have had a great day.
You are my Jewish companion in the holocaust.
But don't think the festivities are over just yet.
Natalya has invited friends over for a program at 11:30.
I daresay it is going to raise the roof.

A Busy Body

Today has been a good day. I feel accomplished.
I turned in both my English paper & my Romantic Ballet paper.
Turned in an extra 2 written dance analysis'.
Checked my P.O. box & was thrilled to see 2 letters.
Tal & I finished our negotiation paper.
Got the final finishings for Kelsey's birth celebration.
Went to 2 meetings.
Got my picture taken.
Did my math homework.
I love days like today.
There is nothing better than accomplishing just about everything you set out to do.
Now off to work on another group project...
Side note: I'm still starving. I am currently taking applications for those of you who want to do some service & make me some yummy food. Because let's face it. Everything I make for myself I only eat like half of it. I'm hungry all the time. Can other collegiates out there relate?

Stress Relievers.

Aren't friends the greatest stress relievers?
Yesterday, some of my ward friends and I went to the masquerade.
It was super fun.
Unfortunately, my camera died soon after this photo was taken.
Make sure your cameras are charged people!
To my friends I say: Tag me.
Today, Kelsey & I strapped on our roller blades for a trip around the town of Ephraim. To say we had the time of our lives is as understatement. We were singing & laughing the whole way.
Here are some of the many pictures taken:
After the blading ride Kelsey's parents had us over for a barbeque.
It was delicious.
(Best part? Not having to cook.
Can I hear an AMEN to that?)
Summer is almost in sight.
After this week, we will be on the home stretch.
I cannot wait.

Spring Ball

I'm quite excited. Pictures to come soon.

Friday, April 16, 2010

Not too much to say.
Other then, I need someone to send me some motivation.
Quick please.
I have so many things to do this weekend.
There just isn't enough time.
Finding the balance is hard.
But once I hit finals week it will all be worth it.
And that's keeping me going,
At least for now.
P.S. Bet you can't guess which resident of A8 dyed their hair via Cherry Kool-Aid. (and you thought only Glozell did that!)
To each their own I guess...

Dinner with the President

May I just begin with:
Can I get 3 cheers for the warm weather?
It has been lovely today.
It is much appreciated.
In other news, this evening the executive council went to President Wyatt's house for dinner.
It was a feast for a king.
We ate from a beautiful spread of chicken & roast beef, twice baked potatoes, fresh green beans, salad, & pretzel rolls.
It was all followed down by sparkling pink lemonade.
I can't believe I forgot my camera to take a picture of the spread.
The President & his wife are lovely people & asked us
a variety of questions.
Later, we each ate a piece of the biggest chocolate cake you can imagine.
Camrie was a real woman & finished all of hers.
I applauded her for it.
After dinner, President Wyatt had asked us to bring an object that represents our personality. I asked many people's opinions on what I should bring. I decided upon bringing the sign that hangs up above my kitchen table at home.
(don't worry Mom, I didn't wear my sweats to dinner, this picture was taken after yoga)
For those of you that know me, you'd probably say this sign is
self explanatory.
I explained that my chosen major will take much sitting & talking.
I explained how currently I like to talk & laugh a lot.
I explained lots of other things, but you get the gist of it...
Luckily Mr. President didn't think I was weird for bringing such a large item. Pretty sure he had caught my vision & was feeling it.
Unfortunately, I had a choir concert, so I had to depart early & I didn't see everyone else's items. All in all though, I would consider it a success & how lucky I still feel to be chosen as a part of this committee.

Thank you Mother.

Well Shell came through...
& aren't we glad?
Even though it was sort of a nice break to not have a phone for 3 days, it was a pain.
So, thanks Mom.
Now if you will excuse me, the Alias 2 & I have some catching up to do.
First mission: get all of the people back who have been taking stalkerish pictures of me.
Watch your backs.
I play to win.

Do you relate?

I'm sick of being hungry because I have nothing to cook.
I'm sick of homework. It's all I ever do.
I'm sick of living in hair balls.
I'm sick of having nothing to wear.
I'm sick of this awful weather.
I'm sick of being unmotivated.
I'm sick of the library.
So, you get the point. Just call me Negative Nancy today.
I am in a bad mood.
As I walked to math today, I stumbled across this:
A smile in the pavement.
It seems in between my misery I had forgotten to smile today.
A smile is a curve that sets everything straight.

An Average Sunday in A8

Today I did pretty good.
1. I was only 5 minutes late to church.
2. I had a lengthy, yet refreshing nap.
3. I didn't roll my eyes at the Homi/Corie duo more then 10 times.
4. I made a scrumptious dinner with Kelsey.
5. I even went to the heartbound fireside.
How was your Sunday?
p.s. Mom. You know you I love you, lots, right?

Saturday, April 10, 2010

So for Intro to Dance we have to watch another College's Dance team.
Then we have to write a 3+ page paper about it.
Give me a break.
Patty Meredith.
What a joke.
Heather & I have had some failed attempts when it comes to this particular project.
This time however, it worked out quite successfully.
We went home Friday night & stayed at my empty house.
(The fam is in St. George to escape our ward's Trek...)
We ate lunch at Costco,
arrived at BYU Ballroom's production of Encore
(with time to spare I might add.)
& Look who sat right in front of us!
Lucky me, right?
It was surprisingly enjoyable.
We returned to my house, wrote our papers, & visited with my fam.
My awesome Dad even gave the FIT a car wash it won't soon forget.
Thanks Dad, You're the best.
All in all quite the success.
